DouglasBlack-1Douglas is an American artist living and working in Japan for more than 25 years.

He received his BFA at the Columbus College of Arts and Design (CCAD) in the USA in 1990.

He participates in numerous symposiums and international residency programs.

He exhibited his works (ceramics and sculptural installations) in the United States, in Europe (United Kingdom, France …) and especially in Asia (Japan, Korea, China …)

The purpose of the workshop will be to adapt Japanese decoration techniques to your workshop practices and products available in France. We will work with black stoneware, porcelain slip, glazes and lusters (gold or platinum).

There will be 3 firings in 5 days so the pieces will be small, thin and not very elaborated to be sure you can approach the technique entirely.

Material to bring

  • Wooden chisels
  • Little mirettes
  • Sponges
  • Flexible turning tool
  • Sharp
  • Ceramic gold (10 or 12%)
  • Pencil and paper
  • Apron
  • Packaging for your works (bubblewrap, newspapers, boxes …)

Don’t forget to write your name on your tools to avoid a possible confusion.

Workshop cost :

– 5 days 690€

+ annual membership fee : 15€

5 persons minimum, 10 max

10am-1pm / 2pm-6pm
