Hand-building & glazing intro sessions

For one-hour sessions, the exercise is to make a customised "tomette" tile. It's great fun and results vary widely, just like you. You'll leave with a small piece of Salernes' heritage.
We can also introduce the ancestral pinch-pot technique: in that case the exercise is to shape a bowl you can personalise with sgraffito, relief patterns, handles, etc. Please let us know your choice on the booking form or by phone (one technique per group).
For 2-hour sessions, we'll cover 2 shaping techniques: pinching as above, plus a pencil pot using hollowing and textured-surface techniques. Finally, if time allows, you can make a genuine creation, either reusing one of the techniques covered or through free hand-building with our technical assistance, of course.
There's also the option to finish your pieces with a second session for colour (slip and glazing). For this, the pieces must already have gone through drying and firing. A second firing will be required.
We recommend that visitors on a short stay schedule and book their session(s) at the start of their trip to allow for these drying/firing times.
